Some extra barking and splashing can be heard in San Francisco Bay's Pier 39 as an unusually large swarm of sea lions is gathering at the iconic landmark.

The Sea Lion Center says a few California sea lions appeared at Pier 39 shortly after a 1989 earthquake in San Francisco. By January of 1990 they had taken over the K-Dock.

The sea lions have been a part of San Francisco's Pier 39 for decades and are among the Bay Area's most famous tourist attractions. But now, the sea creatures have disappeared.
