Caesars New Orleans originally opened as Harrah’s New Orleans Casino in October 1999. In 2006, the original 450-room hotel opened on Poydras Street adjacent to the casino.

This week marks 25 years since Harrah’s New Orleans casino, now known as Caesars, opened in its location at the foot of Canal Street. The building opened to the public on Oct. 30, 1999.

Goodbye Harrah’s, hello Caesars New Orleans. The hotel/ casino has always been owned by Caesars Entertainment, so embracing the Caesars name was a sensible, cohesive move.
